Boost Your SEO: Making Your Website Google-Friendly

You’ve been in business for a while and you’re ready to take your business up several notches. But how do you do that? By increasing the traffic on your website, or by improving your ranking in search engines? The answer is both! Coose a search engine optimization strategy that’s best for your business. Search engine optimization, or SEO, is a long-term strategy for improving your website’s ranking in search results. There are three main approaches to SEO: organic SEO, paid search, and SEO copywriting. An SEO strategy focuses on scoring as many top-ranking results as quickly as possible, as Google’s algorithm doesn’t change too quickly. Additionally, SEO copywriting, which I cover next, is an excellent strategy for increasing the visibility of a business’ words and giving them more eyeballs on the web page, especially on Google.

Love the sound of that! And we can all relate to that: when we are searching for something on Google, we want that Google magic that we just heard. Open the website you want to improve and start exploring some of the basics of SEO — something I like to call:

Generally speaking, the longer, the more descriptive name matches the SEO phraseology, and in some cases, it could result in better SEO results.

Pretty robust, no? I would never pass this information off as gospel, though, as changing a title or keyword can have serious repercussions: Google won’t show you the same results that you would have seen if you used your real title and keywords. Remember, you only have 60 days to live on Google, even if you have a lot of duplicate content. You shouldn’t be afraid to experiment with title and keyword strategy, but keep in mind that something you tout as SEO won’t mean anything without testing it to see if it has an impact on rankings. Google won’t see your experimentation results.

2. Identify and Address Keyword Mistakes on Your Site

Many businesses forget to use the term “keyword” when creating their top-ranking pages, nor do they understand what it means. Choose keywords that your customers will use to find your business

Having the right keywords is important because it allows you to be found when people are searching for you, but it’s also important to use keywords that your customers will use to find your business. If you’re a local business, they’re not going to use a keyword that you have no hope of ranking for. Their first thought will be the nearest grocery store or supermarket that has everything they need. They don’t even need to make an effort to go there. They know that’s where they can get their item easily. That is the power of a good keyword.

Now, keywords aren’t enough if you don’t have good ones in your title and description. Your competitors also have these phrases in their titles and descriptions, so it’s important to be first when people search for these terms. In this respect, there are three ways to mention a product or service in your title and description that are not listed above but that can still boost your search engine ranking in a big way: 

For example, if you were a small 

Small-batch craft brewery in Australia and you wanted to be first in people’s results for their search for: ‘craft beer,’ you would title your page, ‘Craft beers in Australia’ and in your description, you would mention you have one of the best craft beers in your local area.

Oftentimes, people who know your niche will use your homepage as their first search before actually checking out your other pages. So, instead of finding other articles on the web, they will first go to your homepage and see if it looks promising. Once they find your page, they will see your location information and the type of business you are, and then they will check out other local businesses in their area that do similar things. Your marketing here will directly target them and try to encourage them to check out your other pages.

3. Create a website that is user-friendly and allows search engines to index it easily

Designing a website that is user-friendly is important because your website is your business card. The website should be easy to navigate and easy for search engines to index. It’s also important to make sure you have a privacy policy on your website so that people know what information you’re collecting and how you’re using it. Last, you should let people know about important updates on your website, such as a new tofu recipe for that vegan friend who loves tofu, or a new customized gift basket for high school students with gifts they really like. 

You can ask your website to offer you an “A” or “B” user-friendly rating, which is helpful to people who are trying to decide between choosing your business or another one. A 5-star user rating is also a great way to remind people who have visited a website about the nice things they’ve encountered. This rating can also be found within different sections of your website so people can always find updates about your business from an easily accessed menu.

Business hours

You might be thinking that a business that has separate online branches has different business hours than its main website. Are those hours more flexible? Is your business waiting on clients when they’re away on vacation, during the holidays, or other instances? Yes, you can answer yes to these questions! Google Business Center allows you to not only set these hours but also to set priorities for them by creating policies. Some programs are stronger than others, so make sure you cautiously check each policy, each website, and each branch to find the best program for your business. Choose which areas of your business will be easily accessible by phone for your customers. Make sure you also include any other special hours or properties you’re launching soon.

Review management

Review management is a process that could potentially increase the number of customers visiting your business. Should you require a minimum number of reviews to gain a social media sharing or page views boost on Google Business Center? Probably not.

4. Keep up with SEO best practices, such as adding new content and keeping pages updated

They do this by looking at different factors, or criteria, to determine the pages’ relevance to each keyword search. What we’re going to see in this article is that you can actually utilize your physical address, which you might know as your ‘physical address,’ and personalize it to help you skyrocket high up on their search engine results pages (SERPs), which determine what’s shown on people’s search results pages, such as the first page of results for a search. Based on the SERPs, search engines use rankings to figure out where to put your website, so they’re more likely to bring visitors to you. First, let’s identify which ranking factors help with traffic to your sites, such as keyword prominence, and content relevance. This will give you a good starting point for finding ways to provide high-value content to readers. 

Some of the ranking factors that help boost website traffic include links, related searches, accessibility, and authority, and links. Now that you know some of the things search engines look for, you need to come up with more than you can put into one sentence in your headline. You need to create content with an SEO basis to prove to search engines that you’re worthy of being there, and hopefully get more traffic. 5. Use social media and other online resources to promote your website

Building an audience online is all about providing value and being consistent. Make a social media strategy that lets people know when to expect new content from you. If you can help them build the content into their routine, then they’ll keep coming back for more. To promote your website, use the social media channels you already have to drive traffic to your website.

You have all the tools in the world to start building your audience, but is it enough to turn your dreams into reality? SEO is still in its infancy. It is still being discussed and devised all over the internet. Below are a few things every marketer and website owner should keep in mind.

It’s important to not leave a main trail of breadcrumbs to draw your visitors to your site. It is wasteful and inefficient. In fact, most landing pages do not have anything to lead to your actual website. When deciding how to improve your SEO, you want to nail this element first. See if there are any common keywords that are continuously used. If a keyword is constantly used in a particular niche, it is a strong contender to be using today. Go ahead and pull that keyword out of your head and use it while creating your keywords list.
